There are over 8000 glaciers and perennial snow fields in the contiguous United States, and they are changing. These glaciers are shrinking in response to global warming. This site shows the photographic evidence of the changes over the historic period when photographs were available.

If you would like to help us expand the timeline and our collection of historic glacier photographs, we welcome contributions of photographs of any glacier in the contiguous United States. Please make sure that you know the date of the photographs and the photographer so we can properly cite each image. Contact one of us to make your contribution.
